Joelle Thomson, August 2024 - 18.5/20
The Trinity has always been a favourite, both for flavour and for value, and this vintage is an excellent one, demonstrating superb value for money with layers of red and dark berries with great balance, good intensity of flavour on the mid palate and a lingering refreshing finish. Aromas of black cherries, blackberries and black olives intermingle in an accessibly priced red that shines a favourable light on Hawke’s Bay’s ability to ripen classic right bank Bordeaux grape varieties, such as Cabernet Franc, along with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

This red is predominantly a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot adding further complexity and interest. Cherry/plum flavours and the suppleness of Merlot combine with the violet perfume and blackberry flavours of Cabernet Franc to produce a serious, yet eminently drinkable wine packed full of flavour and character.
A versatile wine that can be enjoyed on its own or partnered with a wide range of different flavoured foods.
Ready to drink now but will reward short- to medium-term cellaring (three to five years from harvest date).
