The Marlborist team has crafted a supple, satisfying and succulent 2021 Chardonnay. There’s a silky texture with ripe pineapple, well-managed flint, struck match, a touch of creaminess and a hint of smoky bacon (15% new puncheon). The acidity provides a sense of purpose. While the elevated alcohol is a touch warming, this is a well-made wine that shows that Marlborough’s potential for Chardonnay is very real.

Rich, toasty, nutty and creamed bouquet of peach and French oak spices, nectarine and citrus with a layer of Brazil-nut butter and vanilla custard qualities. Youthful and complex. Lovely weight and intensity with a satin touch then contrasting textures from wood and acidity before flavours of stone fruit, citrus and spices return. Well made, youthful with a decent squeeze of flavour and acidity. Best drinking from 2023 through 2029.
